Captain Chandran leaves a lasting legacy

Captain Chandran leaves a lasting legacy

1st June 2022

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Captain Kandiah Chandran MBE OBE, who passed away peacefully at home on 30 May 2022, aged 89.

Captain Chandran was Chair of Inquilab Housing Association from 1997 to 2009. During his 12-year tenure he made a huge, and lasting impact on our organisation and on the residents and communities we support. He was instrumental in securing funding for, and developing, our homes from under 500 to almost 1,000 and in launching our first shared ownership scheme.

Relentless in his pursuit to help young people overcome disadvantage and achieve their potential, Captain Chandran founded the Chandran Foundation (formerly known as Preset), a charity that supports education and opportunities for young people. Admired by all who had the privilege to know and to work with him, Captain Chandran will be greatly missed. His family is committed to carrying on the work of the Chandran Foundation and, in so doing, continuing his legacy and dedication to others.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones at this time.
